If you’re one of the over-achieving “I’ve been done with my shopping for weeks” people, this probably isn’t for you. I’m trying to be organized this year (you can follow my Stress-Free Holidays checklist here!) If you like giving unique gifts, or just finding really cool one-of-a-kind items for yourself, here are 4 upcoming markets you don’t want to miss!
3 French Hens Holiday Market. One of my favorite summer markets also has a two-day holiday event. There’s over 120 vendors, both indoors and out. It starts Friday, Nov 15th from 5pm-10pm (early opening from 4-5 costs $25 to get in) with a $10 admission. Or, go Saturday the 16th from 9-4 for $5.00
Both days are held at the Grundy County Fairgrounds (8890 N. Rt47, Morris, Il. Exit i80 at 112 NORTH approx 1 mi.).
I’ve never been to the holiday market and cannot wait to go on Saturday!
Find more details on their Facebook page.
Carl Sandburg Fall Craft Show. I know what you’re thinking…a high school craft show? Seriously, this is the mother of all craft shows. I think this is their 25th year and they have over 8,000 attendees. It’s well-organized and they have some unique vendors/crafters.
It runs Saturday, November 23rd 9-4, and Sunday, November 24th 10-4.
One of the coolest ones I saw at the show last year was a full-size carousel horse he turned into a floor lamp. Plenty of customers have had him create lamps for them with their own vintage pieces or old sports equipment. Check out some of last year’s lamps here.
Also, Annie’s Gourmet Olive Oils. I’m happy my local farmstand (Wagners) carries Annie’s oils, but they’re already closed for the season. Plus, this market is a great time to pick up gift sets of 4 mini-bottles.
Visit the Carl Sandburg Facebook page for directions and more information.
Don’t worry, city friends. Tomorrow’s Holiday Markets, part 2 spotlights my two favorite city holiday markets!
