I feel like I just discovered McDonalds right before Ray Kroc. Over the next few years I can definitely see this place popping up in college towns across the country. Because, really, by 2am who doesn’t want a bowl of cheesy mac & cheese with bacon?! Until then, though, you’re going to have to hit the road and drive up to MACS.
Don’t be surprised if you find yourself wanting to make that drive frequently!
Macaroni and Cheese Shop (MACS) is comfort food at its finest: mac n’ cheese maxed (see what I did there?!) out!
My daughter went with #5: Jalapeño Popper Mac– cheddar, pepper jack, mozzarella, jalapeños, bacon, and cream cheese.
Hubbie chose the #8: Buffalo Chicken Mac– cheddar, mozzarella, blue cheese, chicken, and buffalo sauce.
(Yes, I probably should have taken pictures before we started eating, but we couldn’t wait to dig in!)
All 12 options come in two sizes: regular & mac daddy, except the #6 Hangover Mac (cheddar, pepper jack, mozzarella, bacon, hot dog, caramelized onions, mushrooms, green pepper, hashbrowns, and siracha) only comes in the “Mac Daddy!”
They also have “melts” on the menu, I think they’re twists on grilled cheese, but I was obnoxiously immersed in my #7 and didn’t notice if anyone around us had one.
MACS is the brainchild of Nick Morse. And, although it’s incredibly new, it’s drawing quite the crowd already. He and his wife have done an amazing job creating a “fast” restaurant with friendly service and an industrial decor with a welcoming vibe.
Of course, since it’s Wisconsin, you can get a beer to go with your meal.
My only complaint is that they weren’t open yet at 10 am when we tried to go after my son’s 8am game!
This is one small business that I bet we see go huge!
I told you, the Dells were full of surprises this year.
