Shop Small Day 168: Duck Soup

Based on my Facebook feed, it seems like there’s lots of college visits happening. If your collegiate is more patchouli & almond milk than pizza & beer, don’t worry, they won’t go hungry if they’re headed to Northern Illinois. Duck Soup provides all of their organic and natural health care needs.

Duck Soup opened in 1974 as a members-only co-op. In 1990, however, they opened to the public.

So, what can you find at a co-op?

imageEverything from Fair Trade coffee, to bulk flours & nuts, to organic dairy and dairy-free products.

Gluten-free options are plentiful as well as natural health care items.

I guess it makes sense that there’s no meat or deli area, but you will find a nice assortment of fresh fruits and veggies.

Plan on bringing your own bags, and bagging your items yourself.

Besides Whole Foods, where do you shop for organic foods and health products?
