Shop Small Day 157: The Herrington Inn

It’s almost impossible to believe that the first time I visited here was 17 years ago. But, I knew the minute I saw it that it was the perfect location for my wedding. So, 17 years ago yesterday I was the first bride to walk down the gorgeous staircase at the Herrington Inn.

Besides a stunning wedding location, the Herrington Inn is a great getaway that’s close to home, but feels a million miles away. Situated on the Fox River, this boutique hotel actually has a rich history.

The oldest section, now the event room, was actually an 1896 Pump Room for Geneva’s “modern” water system. In 2001, the building was renovated into the stunning event room it is today.

In the late 1800’s the main hotel building was actually a creamery. It went through various changes throughout the years, and was even vacant for many years, but opened as the gorgeous boutique hotel in 1993 (we were married there in 1996). In 2001, the hotel underwent further renovations, adding 21 more guest rooms, bringing the total to 61.

imageLooking for a little luxury? You’ll be welcomed into your room with plush beds, an “oh my god I never want to leave” fireplace, and completely hooked with the fresh cookies & milk at turndown service.

They’ve also added a full spa just in case you need a little extra relaxation!

So, if you want a romantic night away, need a location for your next event, or just want brunch overlooking the Fox River, check out the Herrington Inn.
