I know, I’m an enigma: I don’t particularly like cupcakes, donuts, or hot desserts. But, it’s National Donut Day so I figured the kids would enjoy a sweet treat. Since they recently opened their second location close by, we decided to give Dimples Donuts a try.
I’m not sure if it’s because it’s National Donut Day or if it’s because we arrived late in the day, but there wasn’t a huge selection left. My daughter went with the cherry cake donut which she described as “delicious”; my son picked the vanilla glazed which rated a “fantastic!”
I chose two “munchkins”: chocolate and glazed. The chocolate cake donut had good flavor, but I surprisingly like the glazed better. It almost tasted like biting into a sweet, airy cloud of yum.
Granted, donuts still aren’t my first choice for a treat (though I do really want to try the Beaver Donuts food truck), so you may need to try them for yourself! I recommend you go early, though, they seem to sell out fast. Head to Naperville, or their original location in Batavia and let me know what you think.
They don’t have a website, and their Facebook page isn’t too informative either. I guess they’re more “word of mouth” and busy making the donuts. You may want to call first to check on hours.
