Day 113: The Nook

Ok my crafty readers, today is for you!  Not crafty?  That’s alright, this is still a great place to swing by for a cup of joe or scoop of ice cream.  Or, you could partake in one of their classes and learn a new crafty skill!  Where will all of this happen?  At The Nook.

If you’re familiar with Lisle, you may remember Book Nook, which was in the same location years ago. Kitty Murphy bought the Nook in 2007 and, for awhile, carried every magazine possible. They also introduced yummy Peterson’s ice cream and a coffee bar.

Over the years, the magazines went (the ice cream & coffee stayed) and yarn came in.image

Now, it’s a popular spot for knitting/crochet classes and gatherings. They have a monthly calendar of events. During the month of May you can crochet a sun hat or bracelet, or knit a sweater. Don’t know a cast-on from a pearl-one? That’s ok, they have beginner classes too. Already experienced? They have a “lock-in” May 18th (6pm-9am) creating chemo caps & preemie hats for DuPage Medical Group and a local hospital. I may need a bit more practice before then!

Do you crochet or knit? Have another crafty talent? Where do you buy your supplies (besides Michaels/JoAnn’s, or Hobby Lobby).
