Day 69: Shuffleboard Sunday

Ahh…perfect Sunday…Dose Market, Andersonville Galleria, and hanging out at a bar for a family game of shuffleboard!  Of course, a Hawks win would have been ideal, but we’ll take last second win by IU!  Where did we find good food, cold beer, and some family fun all in one place?
Toons is probably packed on Cubs game days, but today we basically had the back “game room” to ourselves. My goal was to find a place to play shuffleboard, but the kids were hungry. I was expecting ordinary bar food, but was more than pleasantly surprised. I think they’re known for their wings, but their pulled pork sandwich was one of the best I’ve ever had; I’m regretting not bringing home my last couple of bites.

This is why small businesses are better than incessant chain restaurants. Balloons, junky claw machines, and bland food does not equal a pleasurable meal. Instead, we played some shuffleboard, shot some pool, and had a ton of laughs. Sadly, I cannot think of anywhere within 10 miles of my house where we can take the kids for lunch and play some “real” games together.  I definitely see another trip to Toons in our future!
