Chicago State University, CSU, hosted its 11th Annual Alumni Awards Celebration, honoring outstanding alumni whose personal accomplishments and contributions to the local and global community mirror CSU’s mission to educate, empower and serve. The stellar event honored 10 notable alumni, including famed TV writer Christine Houston. This formal affair was held on Friday, October 26th at the Hilton Oak Lawn “We are very proud and excited to honor all of the outstanding alumni receiving awards this year,” said Dr. Wayne D. Watson, Chicago State University’s president. “Every year the decision of who to honor gets more and more difficult because our alumni continue to exemplify the criteria for the awards.” Houston exemplifies CSU’s criteria, most notably for creating NBC’s hit television series “227”, writing for the television show “Punky Brewster” and contributing a teleplay for the acclaimed television series “The Jeffersons”. Houston, is also an instructor in the College of Arts & Science/CMAT Department at CSU. Houston received the Lifetime Achievement Award.
