The Officer Thomas Wortham IV Playground dedication ceremony took place yesterday. The $300,000 playground, which replaced an old dilapidated playlot, has been years in the making has finally come to fruition. Mr & Mrs Thomas and Sandra Wortham led the ceremony while being supported by the Cole Park Advisory Council, Friends of the Park, presidents of Chatham community organizations and Roderick Sawyer, Alderman of the 6th ward. The large crowd of over 200 included committeeman Freddrenna Lyle, Judge John Steele, State Senator Donne Trotter, Deputy Chief of Police Eddie Johnson and Commader Eric Carter. A number of police officer attended as well as current members of the U.S. Army who served with Officer Wortham.
