Few Facts About Joffrey Ballet's Nutcracker

Just a few fun things to know about the Joffrey Ballet’s Nutcracker.  Don’t forget, we open our Chicago run this Friday December 9th at the Auditorium Theater and run through December 27th (tickets here).  Hope to see you there!

#1: The Joffrey Ballet Nutcracker premiered in 1987 at the Hancher Auditorium in Iowa

#2: The design of the party scene in Act One was designed to look like a pop-up book

#3: This year the Joffrey Ballet is selling Victoria and Fabrice Snow Globes as taken from the snow scene that ends Act One at the Joffrey Tower or joffreystore.com

#5: The Women’s Board of The Joffrey Ballet presents the Nutcracker Family Dinner every year, which will be held this year on Saturday, December 10, 2011 at the Palmer House Hilton in the State and Grand Ballrooms. The enchanting evening will feature entertainment for children and adults alike, a traditional family-style meal, and of course, a thrilling performance of Robert Joffrey’s The Nutcracker. Guests will have the option of attending the matinee or evening performance of The Nutcracker on December 10, 2011.  The evening’s Co-Chairs, Sonya Y. Jackson and Cindy Burns, both Women’s Board members, have created an evening guaranteed for family fun.  The delightful evening begins at 4:00 p.m. on the fourth floor of the Palmer House in the State Ballroom, with cocktails, punch, lively entertainment and special “Creation Stations” that the entire family can enjoy.  At 5:15 p.m., guests will be seated in the Grand Ballroom for a traditional family-style meal.  For more information ontact nutdinner@joffrey.org or 312-386-8921.
