LOS ANGELES. Grammy Nominated singer Howard Hewett sang “He’s Got The Whole World In His Hands” alongside of Motown’s legendary artist Mary Wilson at the U.S. Postage Stamp dedication honoring Grammy Award Winning singer-producer Marvin Gaye. During the ceremony Howard Hewitt gave an emotional tribute to Marvin Gaye.
The event was hosted by the United States Postal Service on April 2, 2019 which would have been Marvin’s 80th birthday It was held at The Greek Theater in Los Angeles with Mary Wilson being part of the master of ceremonies. The event was attended by Marvin Gaye’s family, friends, USPS officials and over 3000 guests.
In reflection of Marvin’s music and kindheartedness, Howard Hewett serenaded the audience by singing “He’s Got The Whole World In His Hands” to pay homage to the families of Marvin Gaye and Grammy Nominated artist Nipsey Hussle.
The celebration of Marvin Gaye’s legacy will continue in June when the U. S. Postal Service dedicates a Los Angeles post office in Marvin Gaye’s name. The post office is located on 3585 South Vermont Avenue in South Los Angeles near the University of Southern California and the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles.
