at age seven or eight, i made this tiny model cake, juxtaposed by some chapstick to give you a sense of size. made of clay and big dreams, of becoming an ace of cakes or cake boss, of making something with my hands, doing something with my brain, of being patient, careful, and precise …

now i can only wonder what changed, what flooded those notions out of my current life. at times i think i still feel that burning desire, of creativity and brilliance … raining from above and stirring from deep within…

…but then i realize i’m just hungry.
