Hello my fellow Chicagoans! I’m Ashley, a Marketing & Management major at the University of Illinois at Chicago. As a new addition to the ChiU team, I’d like to take a second to dedicate my first post to tell you a little bit about myself and what I look forward to sharing with you all.
As a current junior at UIC, my motivation and determination for success this close to the finish line has never been more elevated. Whether it’s your first or last year in college, we as students can definitely all relate to one another when it comes to long-term goals and ambitions. My dream career lies in the advertising and marketing field as a director or creative coordinator. Recently, I’ve realized that being able to handle various promotional aspects and the overall “branding” of a large company would be my ideal appointment. As an Event Coordinator for one of the city’s largest event planning companies, Chicago Twenty Something, Inc., I am able to put my ideas to the test and absorb different aspects of how the marketing industry works (thus, cultivating my passion for advertising).
But accompanied by all of our dreams and goals are also hard work (aka those long grueling nights of studying) and the occasional temptation to simply give up. Well, my friends — not only do I feel your pain, but one of my aspirations with my output here within the next few weeks is to share with you how to overcome those barriers. Think of this as a “College Survival Guide.” From study tips to the best cafés/study spots in the city, I’ll be providing you with insight on how to breeze through your year! Feel free to send your ideas my way followed by any comments or opinions.
With that said, stay tuned for pointers on persisting through finals week!
