Where is the best venue to see live music in Chicago?

“I prefer an intimate setting where I can get up close and personal with the band. My favorite venues include The Beat Kitchen, Martyrs’, The Empty Bottle, and Vic Theatre.” — Sher BonDurant, On Tap in the Windy City

“I think it depends on what you’re seeing. I just saw Walk off the Earth at the Aragon and it was the perfect setting for their show. Just a couple of weeks ago, I saw The Decemberists at The Chicago Theater, I’ve seen them numerous times at multiple venues, but I think that was my favorite. It didn’t hurt that we were in the 11th row.” — Michelle Cahill, Mindful Chicago

“Ravinia!!!!” — Jessica Gardner, Little Merry Sunshine

“Hard to say — depends on what you’re looking for. Schuba’s is small and intimate and will always be one of my favorite venues. Park West is more expensive, but the acoustics are incredible. Lincoln Hall is bigger than Schuba’s, but also pretty spectacular. The thing is, most bands have grown out of Schuba’s, so it’s hard to find someone I like who is still playing there. On balance, I’m going to go with Lincoln Hall.” — Jocelyn Geboy, An Unquiet Chicagoan

“For jazz it’s Millennium Park or The Green Mill.” — Charles W Johnson, The Vociferous Envoy

“Head north to Evanston and SPACE. Great environment and diverse lineup.” — Kelly Konrad, LitzyDitz

“Any place outdoors!” — Judy Marcus, Opinionated Woman

“I’ve always been a huge fan of Schubas. I love the intimate feel of it and they always get really get bands to play. Also – I’m a total sucker for photo booths and they’ve got one there!” — Lucy Rendler-Kaplan, Small Girl, Big City
