Ask ChicagoNow: What is your favorite Chicago candy shop?

ChicagoNow is a group of bloggers from all sorts of different backgrounds.

With so much collective experience, we’ve decided to put that knowledge to use by posing some of the oldest and most popular questions to the group.

What is your favorite Chicago candy shop?

“The Fanny May store on Jackson was where they made them. I worked right across the street at Mercy Home and take advantage of the steep discounts following holidays. The Candy Crafters making Frangoes at Marshall Field’s were sweet old ladies who were shown the door when they started making Frango-like creations cheaper in Pennsylvania. Both places are gone, gone. That leaves Margie’s for now. Even the old Curtis Company with the giant glowing Baby Ruth out front sold out to Nestle’s.” — Mark Andel, Hot Dog Diaries

“Veruca chocolates is amazing. Dylan’s, too.” — Carole Kuhrt Brewer, Show Me Chicago

“Sweets in Lake Forest. The Frango shop at Marshall Field’s (NOT Macy’s) is up there too.” — Jessica Gardner, Little Merry Sunshine

“It was Fanny May, and I miss that store.” — Bob Schneider, Politics Now

“Morkes Chocolate in Palatine is delicious!” — Susan Schulhof, Looking for the Good
