For the past eight weeks, two teams of journalism students at DePaul University have built two sites serving Chicago’s Old Town and Gold Coast neighborhoods. It’s part of a new class I’m teaching at DePaul called “Managing Digital Communities.”
The goal of the class is to teach journalism students how to build and grow online communities. A secondary goal was to test different methods of building neighborhood blogs on the ChicagoNow platform.
We’ve learned a lot in two months, much of which you can read yourself on our class blog, ChicagoNow Labs. But we still have much more to learn and more people to meet.
That’s why we’re hosting two meet-ups tomorrow (Tuesday) evening. The first meet-up will take place in Old Town at Old Town Social from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The second meet-up will take place at P.J. Clarke’s in Gold Coast from 7 to 9 p.m.
Residents and business owners are encouraged to stop by the meet-ups,
have a drink on ChicagoNow and talk to us about their neighborhoods. We look forward to seeing you Tuesday.
