I learned everything I need to know by 5 years of age:
-
Painful things are WORTHWHILE – I was born and I don’t regret it.
-
FAITH – I will be taken care of basically – fed, cleaned and talked to.
-
AFFECTION – we both like hugs and someone to lean on.
-
Things make SENSE later – but BE THERE or you’ll miss it, and it never will make sense.
-
You have to PAY someday, better sooner than later
-
There are INSIDE SELF things and OUTSIDE SELF things – as in I feel annoyed and uncomfortable inside; I need to look cooperative outside.
-
I have to COMPETE – I have a sibling who is smart, and I need to be ready for school later.
-
I have to get things RIGHT even if I’m slow – and it helps if when you get things right, you look like you always did. It makes your parents look smart.
-
Keep CLEAN – it looks more put together.
-
I have CONTROL over me some – eat the rough stuff, it keeps you firm and on the go.
-
Be patient, there is generally an opportunity later, and if not then speak up. PATIENCE is waiting to find a bathroom.
-
TALK and you’ll LEARN a lot about the big stuff and the little stuff.
-
All things are INTERCONNECTED – the positive things I did today will be remembered and appreciated. So will the negative things.
-
KINDERGARTEN is your first real JOB – follow instructions, don’t mess up, apologize when needed, and ACCOMPLISH for both THEM and YOURSELF.
