The Willis Clan turn Grand Ole Opry Green for St Patrick's Day

The Grand Ole Opry in Nashville, TN was taken by a Celtic wave as The Willis Clan took the stage to perform Friday, March 13th.

In advance of the coming St. Patrick’s Day and on conjunction with Tourism Ireland‘s “Go Green” campaign the Opry barn turned green during the performance. We had a rare privilege to have backstage access and media access to the main floor to photograph parts of the show.

The audience was completely taken by the family of 12 performing siblings. Even the evening host, country music legend Rick Skaggs was recording parts of the performance on his cell phone. You may have seen this family perform as part of Season 9 of America’s Got Talent.

The following day, the Willis Clan was the hosts of the inaugural Music City Irish Fest, in downtown Nashville, TN. We got the privileged to be the official event photographer. The fest featured the Willis Clan as they performed a dramatized adaptation of the movie Titanic; they played music and danced as the short skit unfolded. They also performed along with the headliners from Scotland, the Red Hot Chilli Pipers.

In spite of the frequent rain all day long the free street event was well attended. I would say it was a success.

What is the connection to Chicago and why are we posting about this here. Well, father Toby and mother Brenda, both grew up here in Chicagoland.

We will rate the event with 4 tickets and concerts with five guitars. Well done and looking forward to doing this again next year.
