Sami Grisafe & Eric Himan perform at Martyrs' in Chicago

Thursday night we were at Martyrs’ on North Lincoln Ave in Chicago to cover the Sami Grisafe and Eric Himan performance.

Award-winning and talented singer-songwriter, Sami Grisafe performed her folk rock music. She was joined by Eric Himan who is well known for his acoustic performance and soulful rock.

Sami introduced two new singles she has been working on in studio, “Tiny Victories” and “Brand New Fairytale” there scheduled for release on Valentine’s Day 2015.

Sami is not only the award-winning singer-songwriter; she is also a retired all-star quarterback for the Chicago Force. In 2013, she earned six Grammy pre-nominations for her album ATLANTIS, the Chicago Music Award for “Best Rock Entertainer”, two world titles with matching gold metals as quarterback for Team USA, and one national football title as quarterback with the Chicago Force.

She put on an outstanding performance on stage as she sang and also played her ukulele.

Eric Himan opened for Sami, he is an award-winning nationally touring soulful/folk/rock artist based in the Tulsa, Oklahoma. Eric’s music has recently been featured on Sirius/XM’s Coffeehouse radio station with his song, “Everything to You” and version of the Simply Red classic, “Holding Back the Years”. Eric has recently toured with Leon Russell and Ani DiFranco. He has shared the stage with India, Arie, Edwin McCain, Patty Griffin, and many more. Recently Eric and band performed at the Center of the Universe Festival with OneRepublic, OK GO, and Neon Trees.
Eric is literally a one man band, he sang, played guitar, and worked a foot pestle to beat on the bass drum at his feet, atop the drum sat a tambourine. He has recently been recording his latest album “Playing Cards”. He is very excited to get this project off the ground and is touring to raise funds for this project.

Sami and Eric performed several songs together and they did an excellent job.

I had a nice time getting to know them both backstage and enjoyed their performance. I will give this a five guitar rating. Keep an eye on these two, they are going places quickly.
