Chicago Subtext is a literary blog, now written by Jason
Behrends, focusing on literary events, people and places in and around Chicago and the Chicago
themes and influences which fuel them. Jason Behrends is founder Orange Alert
Press and the arts and culture site What to Wear During an Orange Alert. As
part of the site and press, he launched a monthly reading series at The
Whistler in Logan Square.
The series is held the third Sunday of each month at 6:00pm.  He is also the editor of The Deli Chicago, the
only site in the city focused solely Chicago
music and musicians. He is also a regular contributor at Gapers Block

With a nod towards our city's history of great books and
writers, and with an eye toward community-building within our city of readers
and writers, booksellers and book makers, the aim of Chicago Subtext is to find
and share all the literary goods in and around Chicago, and in so
doing, placing events, institutions, books and authors in context of our city.
