One of my favorite Chicago-based literary journals is simply called Requited. This journal combines Fiction, Poetry, Essay, Drama, Sound, and visual elements to create a whole picture of creativity. Lead by the talented Amanda Marbais, the Requited team strives to be “a journal that explores the convergences between literary writing and the experience of art as a creative exchange, a contract”. Over the last year they have accomplished that goal, and will be making their present in Chicago known in 2010. What I love about Requited is their desire to include the more unique contributions, the team writing, the audio contributions, the non-traditional elements in all forms of writing.

Their next release reading will be on May 7th at The Hideout and will feature JoAnna Novak, Jason Bredle, Rebbecca Brown, Terri Griffith, & James Robinson. The night will also feature music from Jim Becker and The Judy Green. Tickets are $10.
