CellStories

It only seemed fitting to write an article about the new Chicago-based literary services CellStories on the Word to Go app on my Palm. CellStories, only accessible on mobile browsers, is a new service that delivers a new stories to your mobile browser or phone everyday. They have partnered with several literary sites, reading series, and publishers including THE2NDHAND, Barrelhouse, and 2nd Story to provide fresh and interesting stories everyday. However, they also take submission and it is this fact that really makes them part the future of mobile publishing. The man behind CellStories is Daniel Sinker, the founding editor of Punk Planet. In the about section of the site you find these humorous but telling words from Sinker, “Thankfully, the death of print meant discovering something much more valuable: mobile publishing.” This service keeps Chicago vital and relevant as the state of publishing and the way literature is delivered changes everyday. Look for a similar service coming soon from Featherproof, and I am sure others publishers and literary zines will be following suit.
