Blackhawks prospects, ND hockey on display in Soldier Field Victory
There are potentially five future Chicago Blackhawks on the 12th ranked Notre Dame hockey team. No wonder the Hawks sent scouts to the Soldier Field press box today to check out what ND hockey has to offer. And ND hockey prevailed 2-1 over the #3 Miami Red Hawks in the first of the Hockey City classic's two games.
Wisconsin and Minnesota met in the matinee.
Irish junior Stephen Johns (2 shots, 1 block) was drafted by the Blackhawks in the 2nd round of 2010. Vince Hinostroza will be in South Bend next year. But today was less about the future or prospects than it was the spectacle and event. Hawks ambassador Denis Savard entertained the frozen crowd in between intermission, and a Miami of Ohio fan ran onto the field put a couple on moves on security that Walter Payton (this is Soldier Field) would be proud of. Later after the press conferences, I saw him in handcuffs...
Notre Dame vs Navy in Dublin: news and notes
There was a definite green theme to Notre Dame’s overnight flight to Dublin. The Irish players and most of the coaches and football staff wore bright green sweatsuits and hats. Ask for water and it came with a (green) lime and a miniature Ireland flag. The inside of the Delta plane was festooned with green... Read more »
Notre Dame not joining the Big 12, despite what you've heard
Contrary to multiple “reports,” which were proven false (and as they were proven false, I will not dignify the source of these reports with neither a link nor a mention. Ok, it was Rivals.com Texas Longhorns site Orangebloods- yeah they’re incompetent) Notre Dame is NOT JOINING THE BIG 12. I asked Notre Dame Athletic Director... Read more »

Notre Dame's primary offensive weapon in 2012: Tyler Eifert

Takeaways from 2012 Notre Dame Spring Game
The number one topic is of course the four-way starting quarterback battle. Everett Golson 31 snaps, 11-15 passing, 120 yards, two TDs, 0... Read more »

Can't see Notre Dame going very far in the NCAA Tournament
Last year, Notre Dame leader Mike Brey was named national coach of the year, and deservedly so. This year, he did an even better job. Because he had so much less talent to work with. The Irish (22-11), picked for ninth in the Big East Conference back in October before star player Tim Abromaitis was... Read more »
