Doing a power rankings is fun and interesting in the beginning and/or middle of the season. Towards the end, it’s kind of useless. You just look at the standings. Also, preconference basketball doesn’t really mean as much as conference action. That’s when we’ll learn a lot more. Now that Butler has knocked off the #1 Hoosiers
, you know they’ll lose their spot at #1 here as well.
Guess who the new #1 is...
It’s that time of year again, when I make smart ass remarks justifying why I’m picking one college football
team to beat another. Not only do I give you the full bowl schedule with tv listings, there’s fun and goofy pictures of cheerleaders
and hot female fans interspersed within the listing.
And to make the post more pure to the game and traditional, I took OUT all the corporate sponsor names of the bowls...
It’s pretty clear who should run the Northwestern offense. It’s also pretty clear how they should game plan. This was all evident in the handling of the Iowa Hawkeyes on Saturday. Kain Colter, not Trevor Siemian is NU’s starting quarterback. There should be no rotation or switcheroo. This is Colter’s team. And they need to... Read more »
The last time Nebraska visited Northwestern (1931) Al Capone was in attendance at Ryan Field. In fact, his presence was announced over the PA and he arrived at the game with a VIP style motorcade. He witnessed a 31-7 NU victory. Which NU? Northwestern. This game was a lot closer as a 53 yard field... Read more »
In their 44-29 victory over Indiana Saturday, Northwestern had an extremely balanced attack on offense: accruing 310 yards passing and 394 yards rushing (704 overall on 93 plays). The first and only 700 yard total offense day in school history just says so much about how a very bad Hoosier defense was just so over-matched... Read more »
Entering this college football Saturday 4-0, Northwestern was just outside the national rankings. If that seemed perplexing, consider the unimpressive record of NU’s four vanquished opponents. After today however, with a 44-29 victory over the Indiana Hoosiers bringing NU to 5-0, the Wildcats should be well within the national rankings, and deservedly so. Not that... Read more »
Northwestern QB Kain Colter, usually a dual threat, was very inconsistent tonight. He finished 7 of 14 passing for 44 yards, with 66 yards rushing in the Northwestern Wildcats 23-13 victory over the Vanderbilt Commodores. But he made a big play when it counted; running for a 29 yard touchdown to ice the game. Vanderbilt... Read more »
The Louisville Sports Commission announced that Northwestern junior Venric Mark is one of 49 Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) players named to the Paul Hornung Award Preseason Watch List, handed out annually to the most versatile player in college football. Mark excelled as a kick and punt returner in his first two years in Evanston, entering... Read more »
No snarky or witty intro here, let’s just get down to the brass tax. You know what this post is about. For our team power rankings go here 1. Denard Robinson- Wolverines All his deep completions are just lucky jump balls that he throws up there. And he lofts it when he shouldn’t. And doesn’t... Read more »
These are highly subject to change. Brady Hoke remarked at Media Day that UM was picked fifth in their division a year ago; and just outside the top 25 in the year they won their last national title- 1997. So maybe these rankings don’t really mean all that much? Of course, that won’t stop you... Read more »
