Northwestern football returning to Wrigley Field, Cubs and NU Hooking Up
In some ways, the Northwestern Wildcats and Chicago Cubs were meant for each other. Both had/have major droughts. The NU college football team just won their first bowl game since 1949, and the college basketball has never ever made the NCAA Tournament, 70+ tries. As you’ve heard a million times, the Cubs haven’t been to... Read more »
Notre Dame, Manti Te'o spoof t-shirt (photo)
The Manti Te’o saga just keeps getting weirder and weirder. An NFL player believes that Te’o’s (man constantly writing this double apostrophe thing is getting weird) fake dead girlfriend Lennay Kekua is real. Notre Dame Athletic Director Jack Swarbrick decided that the school would attach their ultimate ruling in the court of public opinion to... Read more »
Alabama vs. Notre Dame: BCS Title game preview
As you’ve known since early Saturday evening, the Alabama Crimson Tide will face the Notre Dame Fighting Irish in the 2013 Discover BCS National Championship Game on Monday, January 7, 2013, at Sun Life Stadium in Miami, Fla. The game will be televised by ESPN and will kick off at 7:30 p.m. (CST).
“We are very excited about coming to South Florida and I congratulate Notre Dame and Coach Kelly and his players on an undefeated season and their number one ranking,” said Alabama head football coach Nick Saban...

NORTHWESTERN ENDS BOWL DROUGHT! What Chicago team is next?
Today, the Northwestern Wildcats ended their 64 year old bowl drought. They upped their record in bowl games to 2-9. And they did it over an SEC team no less, the once 11th ranked Mississippi St Bulldogs. In 2010, the Chicago Blackhawks ended their 49 year old Stanley Cup drought. In 2005, the Chicago White Sox ended their 88 year World Series drought. So now that leaves only two:
Northwestern basketball, who’ve never made a NCAA Tourney. Well, with how they’ve played at home lately, their injuries and an RPI of 105, I’d say they have to wait a year- at least. And the Chicago Cubs 104 year Sahara like drought? Well, they lost 101 games last year, so don’t expect that drought to end anytime soon.
Let’s get back to what the Cats accomplished today...
New Northwestern helmets for Gator Bowl vs. Mississippi St
When the Northwestern Wildcats look to end their bowl game drought tomorrow (you might have heard a thing or two about it in the local media) they’ll do so with these new helmets on. Expect to see a lot of running with Venric Mark and Kain Colter at the Gator Bowl vs. Mississippi State, MSU has a cornerback named Johnathan Banks who will be a top 15 pick in the NFL Draft.
So they’ll be less passing with Colter and Trevor Siemian...
Chip Kelly a good fit to replace Lovie Smith?
There’s been enough written and said about the job security of Chicago Bears head coach Lovie Smith. If he’s gone, which is quite likely, time to move forward and think ahead to his replacement. Oregon Ducks head coach Chip Kelly is being recruited by the NFL once again.
He turned down the Tampa Bay Buccaneers head job last year and rumors are abound that he’ll replace the soon to be fired Andy Reid in Philadelphia. With a record of 45-7, the highest winning percentage in all of college football, third in the nation in wins over that span, and he’s made a BCS bowl every year he’s coached in Eugene. He’s a hot coaching commodity. And he endorses this website, which is very important.
But will his coaching style translate to the NFL...

Picking EVERY College Football Bowl game (with cheerleader photos)
It’s that time of year again, when I make smart ass remarks justifying why I’m picking one college football team to beat another. Not only do I give you the full bowl schedule with tv listings, there’s fun and goofy pictures of cheerleaders and hot female fans interspersed within the listing.
And to make the post more pure to the game and traditional, I took OUT all the corporate sponsor names of the bowls...
Ranking '12 Illini football AWFULNESS among other TERRIBLE Illinois teams
The state of Illinois football has long been declared a disaster area. FEMA will be sending aid soon to clean up the wreckage created my Superstorm Tim Beckman. Actually, the true creator of this mess is Athletic Director Mike Thomas, but that’s another column for another time. Clearly, Beckman is in way over his head,... Read more »
Northwestern handles Iowa Hawkeyes to move to 7-2
It’s pretty clear who should run the Northwestern offense. It’s also pretty clear how they should game plan. This was all evident in the handling of the Iowa Hawkeyes on Saturday. Kain Colter, not Trevor Siemian is NU’s starting quarterback. There should be no rotation or switcheroo. This is Colter’s team. And they need to... Read more »

Northwestern lets potential win over Nebraska slip away
The last time Nebraska visited Northwestern (1931) Al Capone was in attendance at Ryan Field. In fact, his presence was announced over the PA and he arrived at the game with a VIP style motorcade. He witnessed a 31-7 NU victory. Which NU? Northwestern. This game was a lot closer as a 53 yard field... Read more »
