Save your Thirsty Thursday for Pub Crawls

So, it is almost the weekend. That time of the week known as “Thirsty Thursday”, a pre-Friday happy hour and just a time for great drink specials in general. So why not indulge tonight, why wait until the weekend?

I am glad you asked, because two local clubs are having their pub crawls this weekend and you’ll want to save yourself up!

The Fox Valley Rugby Club will be kicking off Saturday with a match at James O Breen Community Park against the Woodsmen. Following the game there will be food and fun and a final chance to get your pub crawl tickets. They’ll start off this year’s fundraiser at their new bar partner, McNally’s Pub in St. Charles. For just $20 a t-shirt, food, and plenty of keg beer. From there they will hit bars along the  strip of Main St. What better way to get out after a busy morning of Record Store Day, rocking out with rugby games, then pub crawling your way through the Fox Valley Area? For tickets, details and who to contact, check out their Facebook event.

Now, Saturday is also Earth Day, so get some fresh air, and enjoy your neighborhood parks and help beautify them, You can go out to Smith Park, and do early morning Earth Day Activities , that the Chicago Park District has going on, then stay and watch the Riot take on the South Side Irish in a friendly match before play-offs begin. The first game kick off at 12:30 for D2 and a D4 game will follow, before they head over to Roscoe Village to take over. For $20 you get a Riot t-shirt, and a various drink specials at Cork Lounge, Fizz, Waterhouse, Four Moon, and Commonwealth. For full event details go to Facebook.

If you are just looking to take in a game this weekend there are plenty around. North Shore will be playing at Riis against Minnesota Valkyries, The Griffins will be playing Columbus, and the Griffin’s B side will be heading to Lemont to play the Blaze. Lincoln Park RFC, will be playing Green Bay, and if in the far suburbs you can head out to Rockford to watch them play the Shamrocks!
