A relaxing weekend of movies across Chicago

A relaxing weekend of movies across Chicago

Happy Black Friday! I have two very exciting activities planned for today: elbowing old ladies at Woodfield Mall for Black Friday shopping and attending my 10th high school reunion. When I get back to the city, I’m going to want nothing more than to sit in a dark theater and be entertained.

The annual Sound of Music sing-a-long is playing at the Music Box Theatre all weekend. Everyone will get a Magic Moments Pack with props to be used at different times during the movie. Don’t know all the words? The lyrics will be playing on-screen. And don’t forget your costume for the fancy dress contest.

Sing-a-longs not your thing? Tron is playing tonight at the Music Box and you can catch The Nightmare Before Christmas at Sheffield’s.

Channel your inner 80’s child with a showing of Karate Kid at the Patio Theater on Saturday and Sunday at 3 p.m.

The Portage Theater is ready to scare the turkey out of you with Bone Chilling November. Catch screenings of Gozilla Vs. Biollante, King Kong, The Day the Earth Stood Still, Aliens and Kolchack: The Night Stalker. Admission is $10 for all five films. Kids get $5 admission, but I don’t know why you would bring kids to this.

The Logan Theater is screening Jurassic Park at 11 p.m. tonight and Annie Hall on Saturday at 11:30 p.m.
