I always thought it was weird that we have Oktoberfest in September, but we’ll just chalk that up to my lack of knowledge about my German heritage. The Berghoff, one of the city’s oldest restaurants, is hosting its annual downtown Oktoberfest celebration.
Starting tomorrow and going until Friday you can enjoy your lunchtime with traditional German foods and fancy seasonal beers. The musical stylings of the Johnny Wagner Band will keep you polka-ing your rear off.
Keep your eyes open for Herman the German, a giant bratwurst roaming the streets of Chicago. (Yes, Herman the German.) Play Spot the Brat by tracking him all over the city. Follow The Berghoff on Twitter or Facebook for clues on where he might be. If you find him you could get coupons, free mini brats and other prizes.
Stop by Federal Plaza after work to enjoy performances from Wedding Banned, Maggie Speaks and Modern Day Romeos.
Prost!
