Bacon is the only thing that matters this weekend

Bacon is the only thing that matters this weekend

Is that bacon on that cupcake? You bet your arteries it is! That’s because Sunday is the second annual Chicago Bacon Takedown! I have other events for your weekend plans, but since there’s really nothing better than bacon I decided to forgo the cheesy introduction, and just launch right into it: The Chicago Bacon Takedown at Lincoln Hall on Sunday douses you with an all-you-can eat bacon creation experience for $15 a person. Local chefs have been given 15 pounds of Hormel bacon with the intent to create the craziest and most delicious bacon recipes possible. I can’t even begin to explain how excited my inner fat kid is for this.

My second favorite thing this weekend is Brilliant Corners of Popular Amusement. Eckhart Park will be home to this three-day movement of entertainment and spectacle. There’s really no way to clasify what type of person will appreciate this event because the goal is to offer an insanely wide variety of entertainment. Musical acts, Vaudville, bulesque, a farmere’s market, a pop-up Renegade Craft Fair market, a family circus, carnival rides. You can’t go wrong.

Craving a good ole fashion church carnival? Harvest Jam sounds like the perfect place to put on that new Missoni circle scarf you beat someone up for and ride the ferris wheel.

Remember when I posted about the Food Trucks in Grant Park two weeks ago? Well I can’t ever find the damn food trucks! Supposedly they’re somewhere in Grant Park on Friday and Saturday night, but I’ll believe it when I see it. Actually I won’t see it because I’m not trying to go again.

Craving beer and bratwurst during lunch today? The annual Berghoff Oktoberfest runs today from 11:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. I wouldn’t suggest making a night of it, but definitely the ideal place to grab a pretzel on your way home.

And don’t forget about the Superstars of Burlesque tonight at Park West!

Mmm...Bacon! Bacon is one of the three things that would keep me from being a vegetarian (not that I would consider it anyway). The other two things are duck and crab.

  • Oh my lord that looks amazing!
