Awesome literary events this weekend

Saturday September 28th 

Come out the CHI*PRC (The Chicago Publishers Resource Center) Community Open House at 12pm. The open house will feature panels on button making, chalk art, zine making and book binding. Refreshments will be served. 858 N. Ashland Ave., $5 suggested donation. 

At 7pm at the Outer Space Studio, the Red Rover reading series is hosting a special event with 100 Thousand Poets For Change. This installment entitled Experiment #67: Private Eyes (They’re Watching You) weaves poetry and political activism together and will pose questions about freedom of expression, the danger of surveillance and censorship. 1474 N. Milwaukee Ave., $4 suggested donation.

Sunday September 29th 

Curbside Splendor Publishing will be hosting an evening with author James Greer as he reads from his new short story collection, Everything Flows at Bucket O’Blood in Logan Square. The startlingly beautiful new short story collection features color collages created by Guided By Voices frontman, Robert Pollard. The event starts at 7pm. 2307 N. Milwaukee, free.

Also happening on Sunday night is Sunday Salon Chicago at the Black Rock Pub & Kitchen. This edition of Sunday Salon features Miles Harvey, Samantha Irby, Valerie Laken and Kathleen Rooney7pm.  3614 N. Damen Ave., free. 

Monique Demery will be reading at Women & Children First in Andersonville at 4:30pm. Demery’s new book, Finding The Dragon Lady: The Mystery of Vietnam’s Madame Nhu is about Vietnam’s most notorious, “…beautiful but diabolical sex dictatresss,” and divulges the truth behind one of the world’s most feared and despised women. 5233 N. Clark St., free.
