A sampling of gardening related events going on around Chicago for July.

July 11 & 12th: Annual GardenWalk. An Urban Exploration of Greenery. July 11 -12 11 am to 5pm. $5 donation for the GuideBook/Map at Club Lucky 1824 W Wabansia or on the free trolley. 75 – 100 gardens will be open! Plus we have added a TreeTour. Art in the Garden highlights outdoor painters at work in the mornign, with the works for sale in the afternoons. The Garden Oasis contains information on green activies and ideas. More info.

July 12th: The ninth annual 2009 Roscoe Village Garden Walk. From 12PM-6PM 2100 W. Roscoe. See here for more information.

July 12th: Edgewater
Glen Association Garden Walk. Featuring the garden of East Edgewater
Glen. $4 per adult, no charge for Children. For more information,

July 17th: 11AM-4PM Medicinal Plant Garden Walk. At the corner of Polk & Wood Street on the West Campus of the University of Illinois.

July 18th: Beekeeping II: Harvest and Winter Care. 10AM-1PM. $40.00. See here for more information.

July 18th & 19th: Midwest Pond and Koi Society 200 Pond Tour across the Chicagoland area. See some awesome pond gardens. More info here.

July 19th: Noon-5PM 51st Dearborn Garden Walk located in
Chicago’s Gold Coast Neighborhood. 1300 North Dearborn. Tickets are
$30.00. More info here.

July 19th: 14th Annual Lakeview Garden Walk. 12PM-5PM This event is free for more info

July 19th: Green Youth Farm tour 10AM 3555 W. Ogden. Free but space is limited. (312) 747-4011 to register. In conjunction with Chicago Botanic Garden and Chicago Public Library.

July 20th: 7PM Independence Library, 3548 W. Irving Park Road. Film screening-America’s Lost Landscape: The Tallgrass Prairie.

  • Whatever happened to the Rogers Park Garden Walk? I used to be on it, but one year they didn't contact me and I've never been able to find it again?

    Good question. I could have sworn I posted it on the events entry for June. but now I don't see it there and I can't find the info I had on it originally but I'm pretty sure there was one this year.

    Anyway, I know some gardeners in Rogers Park have a Google group you could join. and they have a garden club in your area.
