
If you are hoping to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with a pint or two of Guinness, you may be in for some sticker shock.
The FinanceBuzz team looked up the average cost for a pint at bars and pubs in every state.
Not unlike gas prices, California leads the pack when it comes to the most expensive Guinness pint at $8.55.
Three other states come in at eight dollars or more for a pint of Guinness–Nevada ($8.54), the District of Columbia ($8.10), and Massachusetts ($8.00).
The average price for a pint of Guinness around the country is $6.70.

Guinness in Illinois, compared to the rest of the country, is a good deal coming in slightly below the average at $6.45 a pint. However you will most likely pay more at your favorite pub in Chicago.
Case in point: the Z Bar at the Peninsula Chicago charges $10 for a Guinness.
But then again, it is the Peninsula.
A Guinness pint is most affordable in Montana, costing just $5.00.
