Andy Warhol lives again at Terzo Piano event

I think Andy Warhol would have enjoyed mingling with the crowd at Thursday night’s Andy Warhol gala at Terzo Piano at the Art Institute of Chicago.

The evening featured an Andy Warhol–inspired fall menu created by Chef Carolina Diaz to coincide with the museum’s major retrospective devoted to the artist, Andy Warhol—From A to B and Back Again

Guests were dressed in their 70’s finest mimicking the pop artist’s eclectic style.

The entire space became an enormous canvas for everything Warhol. The bar paid tribute to Warhol’s Flowers (1964).warholbarflowers

Warhol’s iconic paintings were reflected on tabletops, menus and walls throughout the restaurant featuring innovative takes on some of the artist’s most celebrated paintings.

His famous “It Girl,”  Marilyn Monroe was there in spirit to greet visitors as they arrived and were invited to kick off the evening with specially created gin and Prosecco cocktails.

Terzo guests journeyed through the life and art of the prince of pop with elaborate dishes, cocktails, and desserts.

Menu highlights included Flowers, an irresistibly pretty salad of roasted vegetables and micro arugula inspired by Warhol’s 1964 canvas of the same name and Coke Float, a truly modern twist on the classic soda fountain dessert that pays homage to the artist’s numerous Coca-Cola works.

No surprise, guests were treated to warm tomato soup and spam (both kicked up a notch).

Beyond creating some of America’s most iconic works of art, Warhol, had a huge presence in the world of music.

The evening’s playlist paid tribute to this in a big way.

Tunes from a who’s who of ’60’s and 70’s music icons including David Bowie, The Rolling Stones, Aretha Franklin Diana Ross, John Lennon, Lou Reed, Elvis and more provided the perfect backdrop to the festivities.
