Are the best tacos Japanese, Italian, veggie, beef  or all together something else?

A new fest, “The Tao of Tacos” will let you be the judge. Hosted by Chicago’s own Chef Rick Bayless of Frontera Restaurants, the new fest will be part of this years Chicago Gourmet lineup of events.

“The Tao of Tacos” is a one-night-only event that will take place Saturday, September 24 from 8 to 11 p.m. on the Harris Theater Rooftop.

Guests can expect to try some never-before-tasted combinations as some of the country’s top chefs present their take on the taco.

The chefs, representing cuisines from around the world, will use the tortilla as a blank canvas, in conjunction with Chicago Gourmet’s newly introduced “Food is Art!” theme, in order to create what they hope will be the taco that everyone will be talking about.

The evening offers guests the chance to rub elbows with their favorite chefs while chowing down on the chef’s creative taco renditions. Lagunitas Brewing Company and cocktails from Cazadores Tequila will offer up the perfect accompaniment to the tacos.

According to Bayless, “What we’re really doing at this event is letting some amazing chefs express their interpretations of the taco, be they humble or high end.”

Tickets go on sale tomorrow, Tuesday, June 21, at 10 a.m. CST on the Chicago Gourmet website. Tickets are $95 per person. Guests must be 21+ to attend.
