Heads-up, horror fans! Director Ari Aster (Hereditary, Midsommar) will be making an appearance for a screening and discussion on Monday, October 28th in Chicago at DePaul’s Humanities Center for their 7th annual Halloween event, Horror of the Humanities. Their goal for this event is to peer deeper into the horrors within everyday life and the connection between horror and humanity.
Ari has quickly taken the horror scene by storm with two feature films that were instant hits with genre fans and critics alike. They’re extensively layered and reach deep into psychological issues we didn’t even realize we had. He’s also got a knack for brilliantly building up dread and easily offering new nightmares with each film.
On October 28th, there will be a screening of Hereditary and a discussion with Ari Aster, after an avant-garde, interactive exhibit (including tarot card readings, live poetry by suggestion, an animated exorcist, and free silhouette portraits of your shadow self!) and a séance stage show!
