Melania Trump is a plagiarist or a liar and that’s all there is to it. Of course, she could be both, but I’d like to give her the benefit of the doubt. In case you haven’t heard, more than 50 words of Melania Trump’s speech at the Republican National Convention last night were copied and pasted from Michelle Obama’s speech in 2008.
Most guys looking at the picture above are not thinking about that naked woman’s journalistic integrity. Maybe they should.
If you haven’t seen the plagiarized sections of Melania’s speech, you can click HERE.
In an interview with NBC’s Matt Lauer yesterday, Melania Trump said that she wrote the speech “with as little help as possible.”
The press is trying to give Mrs. Trump a pass on last night’s fiasco and put the blame for her speech on the as-yet-unknown speech writer. It’s possible they’re being too kind.
If I had done what Melania Trump did with her speech, the owner/operator of this forum would have canned my ass like a chunk of tuna.
Unquestionably, Melania lied. The question is did she lie about writing the speech or did she lie about everything she said in the speech?
However it came about, Melania’s speech is a microcosm of the Trump campaign. If you view a presidential campaign as a tryout for the actual office, you have to give Trump’s campaign a failing grade. If this is how he runs a campaign, I wouldn’t let him run mine, much less my country.
While his shoot from the hip style was an effective model during the primary season, it does not portend of good things for a presidency.
This is the guy who said that we need to be unpredictable when it comes to our willingness to launch a nuclear attack. Probably not a man fit to be president, definitely a clear and present danger to humanity.
It’s too bad that Trump doesn’t get nuance or irony, because this whole affair is rife with both. The one guy who he’s been hounding for years as a terrible and illegitimate president is the guy from whose wife (Michelle) his wife (Melania) stole a speech.
All the great family values that Melania covered in her speech were articulated by Michelle Obama in 2008. It makes Trump’s dramatic entrance to introduce his wife’s keynote speech look even more farcical, if possible
On another note of irony, if the speech writer comes forward to admit his treachery, he will be calling Mrs. Trump a liar for having said that she wrote the speech.
If Michelle Obama had plagiarized Laura Bush’s speech, she would have been crucified by the press, by the GOP and by Fox News.
Let’s see how Fox News handles this one. Now you can go back to the top and look at that picture.
