NBC's Today show proves that prayer really works
With Passover and Easter barreling down on us, NBC’s Today show is running daily segments under the header, “Do you believe?” This is not going to be a survey, so, for the purpose of this piece we are going to treat that particular question as if it were rhetorical. On Monday, segment host, Jenna Bush... Read more »
Cruz, Danson, Koppel, Kacynski, Kennedy, Turner and both Teds
There’s a lot of famous Teds out there. I mentioned a bunch in the title, you can probably think of a bunch more. The last two, the ones listed as “both Teds” aren’t exactly people, but we’re going to talk about them, anyway. Some of those Teds mentioned in the title have had or currently... Read more »
It's time to kill the staff infection plaguing our Congress
Staphylococcus is no laughing matter. Commonly referred to as “staph infection”, it can wreak all sorts of havoc on the human body, like boils, food poisoning and toxic shock syndrome. Some forms of staph infection, like MRSA are resistant to our arsenal of antibiotics. If possible, avoid hospitals at all costs. This, however is not... Read more »

Your uncle died so that stupid people can say stupid things
PFC Aaron Toppen fought and died so that stupid people could say stupid things. That may sound ridiculous or flippant, but there’s no other way of saying it. Aaron was just 19 years old when he was killed by “friendly fire” in Afghanistan last year. The above image of Aaron’s niece, Taylor has haunted me... Read more »
Rahm Emanuel, Chuy Garcia, an ironworker and a teacher go into a bar.....
I did a small piece on the upcoming runoff between incumbent Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel and his challenger, Jesus “Chuy” Garcia. You can read it here, if you’re so inclined. The object of that piece was to summarize the February 24, 2015 mayoral election with a nod to Chuy, saying that Mayor Emanuel may have... Read more »
Chris Matthews takes Netanyahu to task on the two-state solution
On his show, Hardball, Chris Matthews questioned Israeli Prime Minister Bejamin Netanyahu’s motives for appearing before a joint session of the U.S. Congress. He never questioned the motives of Speaker of the House, John Boehner, who invited Bibi to appear. Boehner’s singular motivation allows little room for speculation. That speech is old news now and... Sigma Alpha Epsilon prepares to fire back at Oklahoma University
Sigma Alpha Epsilon, the fraternity shut down by OU for racist chants has secured counsel and is weighing its legal options. We’re going to get into that in a minute, but there is some unfinished business from yesterday’s piece about SAE . I mentioned in that piece that I was in a fraternity, of sorts... Read more »
Racist chants in college grow up to be racist chants in Congress
Members of the Oklahoma University fraternity, Sigma Alpha Epsilon were caught in a 10-second video chanting something about not allowing black people into their fraternity. In their version, however they didn’t say black people, they used the n-word. I’m not sure why that word is so bad, but it is. It probably has more to... Read more »
Rahm Emanuel, Chicago's first Jewish mayor is working to fend off a challenge from a guy named Jesus
Rahm Emanuel, Chicago’s 55th mayor is also its first Jewish mayor. Elected in 2011, Emanuel ran into headwinds last month in his bid for re-election. Needing about 233,000 of the approximately 466,000 votes cast, Emanuel came up short with only 211,600 votes, or about 45%. This must have come as a surprise to the guy... Read more »

Netanyahu and Obama both scored some points yesterday
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu (hereinafter referred to as “Bibi”) and President Obama (hereinafter referred to as “The Prez”) each got to chalk one up in the “win” column yesterday. Both victories are a little bit national security, a little bit political one-upmanship. Like the Donnie and Marie song, “A Little Bit Country, A Little... Read more »
