I never met Donna or her mom, fellow blogger Mary Tyler Mom. I honestly didn’t even know today was Donna Day. I guess I live in my tiny toddler crazed bubble these days. Lately, I rarely have time to check my email or spend quality time on social media. For this, I apologize to Donna today. Who is Donna?
Donna was a brave 4 year old little girl who lost her battle to pediatric cancer in 2009. You can read her story here.
After Donna died her family formed Donna’s Good Things in their daughter’s memory. This 501(c) (3) foundation works to provide joyful opportunities for children facing adversity. Whether it be health, social, familial, or economic related, Donna’s Good Things wants to help. The organization also raises funds for pediatric cancer research.
Donna Day is an annual blogging campaign where the blogging community comes together to raise awareness and funds for pediatric cancer. You can help by donating here, the organization’s Donna’s Good Things St. Baldrick’s event. Whether it be a monetary donation or raising money by volunteering to shave your head to support awareness, Donna’s family would love to have you on their team.
Pediatric cancer is real. It’s a hard pill to swallow that something so awful can happen to our little babies, teens, and young adults. Although today is Donna Day, every day we raise money towards research and a cure is a Donna Day.
