If you’re a lover of vintage couture, then you’re gonna love this! For this weekend’s Randolph Street Market’s “Modern Vintage Chicago”, one of the superstars of vintage style, Cameron Silver, will be presenting never-before-seen in Chicago selections from his world renowned L.A. store DECADES!
Cameron is a walking encyclopedia on all things fashion and I had a chance to talk with him at a recent lunch. He wears his heart on his sleeve and has charmed everyone from Saudi princesses to supermodels and had just returned from a very successful book signing event in St. Louis where the “women are all so stylish and fit.” He can rattle off collection details from every designer and can even tell you who their inspirations were.
L.A. native Cameron is an author, style pundit and reality TV star who began his career as a German folk singer! He couldn’t find original German costumes for his act so he turned to vintage and the rest, as they say, is history!
Named by Time Magazine as one of the “25 Most Influential Names and Faces in Fashion”, Cameron’s next project will be to have his own brand. He has worked as consultant for numerous high profile companies and now looks to branch out on his own in this arena. He will combine forces with Tinker Tailor to bring mass market customization to the luxury fashion world. Cameron says, “This concept will revolutionize couture fashion.”
Friday night, May 2, a cocktail shopping preview party will offer a first look at a vast collection of top designer goods with a portion of the proceeds benefitting The Costume Council of the Chicago History Museum.
The fun continues on Saturday and Sunday at noon with a Connoissseur’s Lunch n’ Learn that will include a bag lunch from Little Goat and a witty and informative presentation on “Designer Fashion Jewelry: from Poiret and de la Renta” conducted by longtime style maven Nena Ivon. The weekend will also include hors d’oeuvres from Belly Q, wine from City Winery, a whiskey tasting by KOVAL Distillery, a live DJ and a fashion installation by Redgi Woods of ImagineFashions.
Don’t miss this action packed fashion weekend beginning Friday night at Plumber’s Hall, 1350 W. Randolph. (For tickets and more info, click here!) (10-5 pm Saturday and Sunday)
