On Sunday, September 21, the Primo Center for Women and Children will hold its third annual signature fundraiser hosted by Diane and Quintin Primo. Primo Classico d’Europa will honor tennis legend Jimmy Connors with the 2014 Man of Vision Award. He will be in attendance with beautiful wife Patti for this event that will be held on Sunday afternoon, 1-5 pm, at Lake Forest Sports Cars. “He changed the game of tennis, never gave up and was a fierce competitor,” said Diane Primo.
Connors won eight Grand Slam singles titles (five US Opens, two Wimbledons and one Australian Open) and two Grand Slam doubles titles (at the US Open and Wimbledon), and was a runner-up in seven Grand Slam singles finals, one Grand Slam doubles final and one Grand Slam mixed doubles final. He held the top ranking for a then-record 160 consecutive weeks from July 29, 1974 to August 22, 1977 and an additional eight times during his career for a total of 268 weeks. He was the first male player to rank No. 1 for more than five years in total. He held a year-end top ten ranking for a record 16 years. His recent book, The Outsider: A Memoir, recounts his exciting career and life on and off the court.
Kate Gaynor, a longtime supporter of the Primo Center and Senior Vice President, Midwest Zone Private Client Services , Marsh, will be honored with the 2014 Woman of Vision Award.
During the event, attendees will enjoy an afternoon filled with gourmet cuisine from top restaurants including Centro, Gene & Georgetti’s, Prosecco, Pelago, Tocco, Travelle, The Florentine, Basil Leaf Cafe, Belle Vie, Francesca Intimo, Angelo Gelato and Sugar Hills Bakery. A fashion show, exotic cars, fine wines and a one-of-a-kind live auction will round out the afternoon. (Check out www.PrimoCenter.org for tickets and more info).
