Chicago Sports Museum and Harry Caray's 7th Inning Stretch: A Place to Play for Chicago Sports Fans

Chicago Sports Museum and Harry Caray's 7th Inning Stretch: A Place to Play for Chicago Sports Fans

I can’t wait to see the sports treasures (think Sammy Sosa’s corked bat) and experience the interactive fun at the newest venture from Harry Caray’s Restaurant Group (HCRG), Harry Caray’s 7th Inning Stretch and the Chicago Sports Museum!  This cool concept will open to the public on Wednesday, April 2, with the Chicago Sports Museum occupying an 8,000 square foot space on  Level 7 of Water Tower Place.  The rest of this 23,000 square-foot space, Harry Caray’s 7th Inning Stretch,  will combine dining, entertainment, private event venues and retail and will become a mecca for all sports fans.

There will be a sneak preview of the museum on Tuesday, April 1st, from 6 -9 am before it opens to the public on the 2nd.  Chicago Bears wide receiver Brandon Marshall will be on hand as well as actor James Denton, former star of Desperate Housewives.  Every 15 minutes, guests will have a chance to win tickets to various sporting events including the Cubs home opener, Bulls games, Hawks playoff games and to Chicago Fire games.  Plus, everyone in attendance will enjoy a complimentary breakfast buffet.   The first 100 guests will receive complimentary parking in the Water Tower Place parking garage, based on availability.

The amazing interactive aspects will allow you to compare your jump to Michael Jordan’s (48″ vertical);  your wingspan against Scottie Pippin’s (who had an astounding 88″ wingspan.  He is 6’7″);  your hand size against Jordan’s, Pippin’s, Will Perdue’s, Elena Delle Donne, Ron Harper and Toni Kukoc; your reaction time against Hawks former goalie Tony Esposito; your strength against Walter Payton’s (he could bench press 400 lbs. and leg-press 700 lbs.  He could also walk across a football field on his hands, throw a football 60 yards, punt 70 yds. and kick a field goal 45 yds.  He could also tear a deck of cards in two and pick a Yugo car up by its front wheels! Wowza!!)  Attendees will also be able to call a game or sing “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” ala Harry Caray in a replica of the Wrigley Field broadcast booth.

I’ll be covering the private VIP Opening celebration Tuesday evening so watch for complete coverage on my blog,,  and my internet show on  Celebrity guests scheduled to attend include Bears Brandon Marshall, Alex Brown, Matt Forte, Richard Dent, Donnell Woolford, James “Big Cat” Williams, Jerry Azumah, and Otis Wilson, Bulls Dickey Simpkins and Will Perdue, Blackhawk Bobby Hull and CEO John McDonough, Cubs Ernie Banks, Ryan Dempster, Milt Pappas and Gary Matthews Sr., White Sox Ron Kittle, Ozzie Guillen and announcer Steve Stone, Sky player Elena Delle Donne and Head Coach Pokey Chatman, Hall of Fame football coach Marv Levy, actor James Denton, Dave Tirio of the Plain White T’s, 2014 Olympic Bobsledding Silver Medalist Aja Evans and many others.   (
