Old Jews Telling Jokes Extended with Celeb Cameo Appearances for Charity

The laughs will continue at the Royal George Theatre through March 30, 2014, for the hit off-Broadway comedy, Old Jews Telling Jokes co-created by Daniel Okrent and Peter Gethers.  A quintet of Chicago favorites are now appearing on the Main Stage: Dara Cameron, Alex Goodrich, Tim Kazurinsky, Renee Matthews and Gene Weygandt.  A new twist will be the addition of special “celebrity” cameos beginning Tuesday, December 17 with best-selling author and attorney Scott Turow.  His appearance will benefit the Authors Guild Foundation.

Don’t laugh (yet) but I’ll be appearing Wednesday night, December 18 (7:30 pm) with a portion of that night’s proceeds benefitting Bear Necessities Pediatric Cancer Foundation.  This is my first time doing stand-up and, I must confess joke-telling has never been my strong suit but it is for a great cause AND I’ve been very lucky to have legendary funnyman, Tom Dreesen, as my coach!   Besides, you never know how high you can fly until you spread your wings!  Just hope the audience can hear my jokes over my knocking knees…..:-)

January 8 will feature a joint performance by Illinois Senate president John Cullerton and State Rep Sara Feigenholtz that will benefit the Jane Addams Senior Caucus.  Beloved author Sara Peretsky will also make an appearance for her favorite charity, Sisters4Science.

I hope you can make it for one or all of these performances since laughter really is the best medicine!
