New Year’s Eve parties have always seemed so special to me. They herald in a brand new year and set your focus for a new beginning. It’s a chance to grow in a new direction and make plans/ resolutions to help you get there. My plans this year include co-hosting a party at Public Chicago with the Genuine Entertainment Group and attending a friend’s house party. This got me wondering what everyone else might be doing on this special night so, voila, a blog post is born! I polled some of the busiest, most connected people I know and was surprised at the variety of ways one can celebrate. I was also inspired by many of their thoughtful resolutions.
Cheeky Chicago’s Jessica Zweig will be partying at the NoMI Lounge with close friends. Corri McFadden, of E-DropOff fame, just announced she’s expecting so her 2014 resolution is to stop drinking and start working the F-bomb out of her vocabulary. Cook County Treasurer Maria Pappas vows not to talk to people who aren’t listening. Chicago Now Community Manager, Julie DiCaro, will be hanging out with friends at an 80’s party. Windy City Live’s Ryan Chiaverini will be at Toby Keith’s bar in Rosemont while his co-host, Val Warner , who will be turning 40 this year, hopes to be in better physical shape for the coming year. Leslie Hindman, (Leslie Hindman Auctioneers), will be dining at a special restaurant in Berlin with Sun-Times columnist Mike Sneed and friends. Chicago International Film Festival founder, Michael Kutza, will be attending the final performance of the “Follies” in Palm Springs while Jennifer Sutton Brieva and Katie McLenaghan will be enjoying the NYE festivities at the Music Box Theatre that will include a screening of Baz Luhrmann’s
“Moulin Rouge” and a burlesque show.
