Chefs Art Smith and Eric Lanlard "Tart it Up" at Celebratory Brunch

There is nothing quite like a party with legendary Chef Art Smith, but when’s it’s at his charming Hyde Park  home, by-invite-only and planned with his partner Jesus Salgueiro, you know it will be something very, very special from beginning to end.  Throw event planner extraordinaire, Debi Lilly (A Perfect Event),  into the mix and, well, you have a PERFECT event!

The occasion celebrated Art and Jesus’ beloved friend, Chef Eric Lanlard, and the launch of  his latest book, “Tart It Up”.   Eric is an award winning UK pastry chef who is also the author of popular “Cake Boy” , among his many other books,  and who is also a regular fixture on many British television shows.  He has created pastry magic for Victoria and David Beckham, Madonna and Sir Elton John to name just a few.

On this Sunday, it was a magical afternoon, especially since Art and Jesus’  cozy home is such a celebration of their life together.  Their kitchen, obviously, is the heart of the home and includes Jesus’ creative works of art inspired by their travels, photos of of them with the Obamas, Oprah and other VIPs  and bookshelves filled to bursting with signed cookbooks from their many famous friends.  Their garden is situated right out the back door and has been the scene of many high profile get-togethers that have been chronicled in top magazines.

I saw international DJ White Shadow enjoying Art’s famous cinnamon rolls while TimeOut Magazine’s Kevin Aeh was mixing and mingling.  Restaurateur Manolis Alpogianis (City Porch, America’s Dog) was excited over a recent purchase of a beautiful piece of Jesus’ artwork  and everywhere, guests were celebrating Chef Eric Lanlard’s fabulous new cookbook.

And, as we all know with Chef Art, it’s all about the food and how it brings people to the table, so brunch featured scrambled eggs with white truffles they had dug on their recent trip to Tuscany.  Other delicious offerings included Benton Ham of Tennessee with biscuits, 11 City Diner’s red velvet cake and assorted tarts from Eric’s book among so many other tasty treats.

Congrats Eric and we hope to see you back in town soon!  (To purchase Eric’s delightful book, “Tart It Up”, please click here!) (Additional photos courtesy of Debi Lilly,
