The Joffrey Ballet's "Couture & Cocktails" Photo Highlights

The Joffrey Ballet’s “Couture & Cocktails” was created six years ago as a way to honor the dancers and introduce them to their fans in a fun, party atmosphere.  Each year, a designer is featured and in year’s past have included Maria Pinto, Pamella Roland and Carmen Marc Valvo among others.  This year, American designer, David Meister, showed his Fall Collection along with a menswear show presented by Neiman Marcus.

The Red Carpet interviews included co-chairs Kristina McGrath and Rebecca Besser (dressed in matching full-length Meister silver gowns), along with notable sports stars Bears’ Charles Tillman, Anthony Adams,  J’Marcus Webb and Robbie Gould.  Joffrey Executive Director, Christopher Clinton Conway, participated in the live auction portion wearing a sailor suit for the British Virgin Island’s Bitter End Yacht Club package which sold for $14,500.   Mike and Kristina McGrath also offered their 108′ yacht, The Kristina, up for auction with a four day trip for 8 that raised $21,000.  A 2012 Championship Round Master’s Tournament package for four sold for $13,500.  And for the first time ever, the ballet company offered a dance-on role which will occur during the season’s opening performance of Don Quixote, a world premiere.

The fashion lovers were out in force and even dancer Amber Neumann was tapped to design some of her fellow dancers’ chic cocktail dresses for the occasion!   The after-party continued in the front room which had been magically transformed into a nightclub during the fashion show portion.  Now, instead of raw space, sleek, white leather furniture appeared and  hot DJ Ashok drew guests onto the dance floor for the final part of an action packed evening that also included a performance by the Exelon Strobel Step-Up Dancers as well as an extensive silent auction.  The fun food tradition continued with tasty and creative selections from The Entertaining Company.
