This year’s Zoo Ball, themed “Hollywood & Vines”, brought out the wild side in almost 1,000 guests as they mixed and mingled amongst the animals on a warm summer night. The carousel transported the black-tie attendees back to a kinder, gentler time as the Siberian tigers roared in the background. Even the gorillas seemed to appreciate the VIP reception in their Regenstein African Ape House. There was a wonderful live auction, which made $50K for this record breaking evening that raised $1 million for the Lincoln Park Zoo, the nation’s only free, privately managed zoo.
Co-chairs Susan Erler, Rosemary Jones and Kirsten Rider thanked their wonderful 90-women strong board as well as their sponsors who included Presenting Sponsor Guggenheim, Gold Sponsor Chicagoland and Northwest Indiana BMW Centers and Silver Sponsor Pritzker Military Library/Tawani Foundation. Another “Oscar” was awarded to corporate co-chair extraordinaire, Anne Pramaggiore, who brought in 19 tables single-handedly! Even Emcee Bill Kurtis got caught up in the theme coming dressed ready for a hike in the jungle with a safari vest and a pith helmet!
