It sure was exciting to escape from Chicago for a week to South Beach! And even though the weather there was unseasonably cool for this time of year, we were quite content with sun and 60+ temperatures! We packed a lot of activities in our week long stay at the Tides Hotel on Ocean Blvd. which was a real delight. The all female managerial staff runs this hotel like a Swiss clock and we were very happy here.
We started our trip off with dinner at Asia de Cuba in the Mondrian Hotel. The hotel was designed by the award-winning Dutch designer Marcel Wanders in a contemporary and surreal style. The tasty dinner was served on a patio looking out over Biscayne Bay…so romantic! The next day, we went for lunch to my favorite spot in South Beach, the beach club La Piaggia. Pay no attention to the forbidding sign on the door: Private Club, Members Only. Once you step inside, you feel like you’re on the French Riviera. Even their rose wine comes directly from the South of France. The food is divine and the people-watching is the best on the beach!
Later in the week, we also dined at BLT Steak in the Betsy Hotel, Prime 112 on Ocean Blvd., Meat Market on Lincoln Road and Mr. Chow at the W Hotel. We shopped at Bal Harbour and visited the Design District which has become a shopping and dining mecca all on its own….The best part of South Beach is that it is constantly evolving…..you can never be bored here with all of the new and exciting spots to visit! I can’t wait to go back. Check out my pics from our fun in the sun. J (Do you have a favorite spot in Miami Beach? Please email me and let me know!)
