6 things only perimenopausal women will understand

Gentlemen, I am giving you fair warning…click away from this post now if you do not want TMI.

OK, ladies, this is for those of use who know that these are 6 things only perimenopausal women will understand:

1. Our emotions are totally messed up. We used to cry over sad movies like Ghost…

Now we cry over this:

Poor kitty!

2. We’ve always had body image issues, but we used to look like this:

We used to look like this...

We used to look like this…

…and now we look like this:

Jiggle Belly

Jiggle Belly

3. We used to feel like we ate too much, when we really ate too much, like this:

…now this feels like too much:

tiny food

4. We used to sleep like this:

heavy sleeper

heavy sleeper

…now we sleep like this:

sleep walking

sleep walking

5. We used to be sweet and funny, like this:

laughing and having fun

laughing and having fun

…and now, not so much:

hormone rage

hormone rage

6. We used to handle the warm weather really well, like this:

tolerating the summer heat well!

….and how we handle the “heat” now:

hot flashes cure

cure for hot flashes

It’s a crazy season of change, isn’t ladies? Fortunately, it only lasts from 4-10 years. Ugh.

Ecclesiastes 3:1-22  (NIV)

A Time for Everything

3 There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens:

2     a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot,
3     a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build,
4     a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance,
5     a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them, a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
6     a time to search and a time to give up, a time to keep and a time to throw away,
7     a time to tear and a time to mend, a time to be silent and a time to speak,
8     a time to love and a time to hate, a time for war and a time for peace.

Whatever the season you are walking through, know that it is just that, a season. The only constant in life is change.

What season are you in right now? Are you a new mom just starting out? Are you single and looking, or single and not looking? Are you perimenopausal, like me?

Tell me about it here in the comments, or on my Facebook fan page.
