Wind Storm - 6/30/2011

When a tree falls in the forest, does it make a sound if no one is around?  Who knows, but in the populated suburbs, it sure does.  Last night, there was this loud “snap” sound, then whoosh as a helpless willow tree came cascading down to the ground.  It landed in the middle of our street, completely blocking all traffic as well as the next door neighbor’s driveway.

Crews worked late into the night, in mine as well as many other towns and villages cleaning up the mess left by the storm on Thursday.  No hail fell, thankfully, but other did see hail as large as golf balls.

Here are some photos from last night and Friday morning’s clean up efforts.
