Katrina to Bachmann - Stop Using My Song

Katrina Leskanich of Katrina & the Waves fame has issued a legal ultimatum to Congresswoman and presidential candidate Michele Bachmann to stop using her song “Walking On Sunshine” as a campaign song.

The following appears on Leskanich’s web site:   “Katrina & The Waves would like it to be known that they do not endorse the use of Walking On Sunshine by Michele Bachmann and have instructed their lawyers accordingly.”

That made for some fun amongst my music aficionado friends via several emails earlier today.

One opined, “The Stones should let Bachmann use “Stupid Girl.” She makes Palin look sharp and that’s not easy to do.”

So I countered with, “How about “Devil Woman” by Cliff Richard?”  Another in the group offered this, “Or the ever popular Blue Oyster Cult’s ‘Joan Crawford.'”

Then of course my twisted mind came up with a few more:

“Maneater” by Hall & Oates, “Bitch,” also from the Stones.

To be fair we should offer up some pro-girl tunes that her supporters might want to see if they can use.

How about “Girl U Want” from Devo, “Man Smart, Woman Smarter” an old calypso song covered by many, or even (ugh) Helen Reddy’s “I Am Woman.”
